General Information on the Centennial Mass

for the Diocese of Rockford

More than 10,000 Catholics from the 11 counties that make up the Rockford Diocese will gather to join in the celebration of Mass that begins a year-long celebration of the establishment of the diocese in 1908.

WHAT: Mass Begins at 2 p.m.

WHERE: Convocation Center at Northern Illinois University (directions are included on this web site.)

ADMISSION: Admission is by ticket for reserved seating.

Tickets are available only through all parishes in the Diocese of Rockford

ATTIRE: Those attending the Mass, including Media Representatives should wear clothing appropriate for the occasion that is within their means. Business or semi-formal attire is suggested.

PERSONAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO: Because of the Sacred nature of the event, it is preferred that there be no photography or video. Photos of all aspects of the event will be available in an online gallery through The Observer Catholic Newspaper. No flash photography will be allowed and no individual will be allowed to leave his/her seat during Mass to take photographs except official representatives of the Rockford Diocese. Absolutely no tripods will be allowed for video or still photography.

MEDIA: Media wishing to cover the event will need to be credentialed. Credentials can be obtained by calling the Office for Communications and Publications at 815/399-4300.
