NFP Seminars
An introduction to Natural Family Planning at the very least is a required component of your marriage preparation. It is recommended that you take a full course of Natural Family Planning (NFP). This way, should you choose to use NFP in your marriage immediately, or at a later date, you will have the knowledge necessary. Natural Family Planning can also help you identify and treat your reproductive health problems (painful periods, endometriosis, PCOS, infrequent bleeding, etc).
Please register for a full course in NFP or an NFP Seminar three to six months prior to your wedding.
To register for a full course, please call one of our instructors to set up an appointment.
The Natural Family Planning Seminar reviews Church teaching on human sexuality and introduces one of the methods of Natural Family Planning available in the diocese. We advise that you attend a seminar as soon as possible.
To register for an NFP Seminar, please print and mail the below registration form. Couples should attend a seminar at least three months prior to their wedding date.

The Bishop's mandate
In an effort to provide all engaged couples with an appreciation and understanding of the truth, dignity, and meaning of human sexuality and the nuptial meaning of the human body, the Diocese of Rockford will now require all engaged couples (including those beyond child -bearing age or those who have been sterilized) to complete a Natural Family Planning Seminar. This policy will take effect on January 1, 2006- the Feast of Mary, Mother of God.
Since these seminars are offered routinely in various parts of the Diocese and since couples are to notify their Pastors six months before the wedding date, there will be ample time for couples to complete the NFP Seminar. This requirement is not fulfilled by the brief NFP presentations given at the Engaged Encounter weekends.
At the conclusion of the seminar, a Certificate of Attendance from the Respect Life Office/NFP will be given to the couple for their Pastor to forward to the Diocese with the other pre-nuptial investigation required of all couples planning to be married within the Diocese.
