2014 Diocese of Rockford Youth Summit

Last October, Bishop Malloy hosted the first-ever Diocesan Youth Summit to celebrate the year of Faith with an event for the youth of the diocese. The Bishop has again asked our Youth Summit committee to begin planning Youth Summit 2014 to be held at Boylan Catholic High School in Rockford on Sunday, October 26th, from 9:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for teens in grades 8 through 12. Check-in begins at 9:00 a.m.

As we experienced last year, this promises to be a high-impact spiritual experience for the youth of our diocese. Bishop Malloy will offer Sunday Mass as well as host a Question-and-Answer session with the teens. Confessions will be available as will Adoration and Benediction. Inspirational speakers will include Rich Curran (keynote), Fr. Keith Romke and Kassandra Salgado. Music will be provided by Paul Vogrinc and the Arise Band. The cost for all teens for the day is $25 which includes a box lunch and a T-shirt. The cost for chaperones is $15 which also includes a lunch and a T-shirt.

Rich Curran - Keynote Speaker
Rich is a nationally known Catholic speaker who addresses over 50,000 teens and adults each year. Using humor, stories and specific action steps, Rich invites and inspires youth to embrace and cherish their Catholic faith within the context of our modern world. Recognized for his vast experience and expertise, Rich was one of the top 100 leading professionals in Catholic formation invited to attend the National Symposium on Adolescent Catechesis funded by the Lilly Foundation in 2008. Rich is best known by his titles: father, husband, disciple, and itinerant preacher.
Fr. Keith Romke - Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Rockford
Father Romke was ordained a priest in May of 2011. Since then he has served at Holy Cross parish in Batavia and St. Bridget Parish in Loves Park along with serving as the Diocesan Director of Vocations. His favorite thing to do is to share his love of Christ with others so that they too can be transformed and experience the joy and peace that can only come from God. He also loves the Blackhawks, Bulls, Bears, and Cubs, but most of all he deeply loves St. Catherine of Siena so if you try to refute the fact that she is the greatest saint after Mary, Joseph, and the Apostles, prepare yourself for a big debate!
