Award-Winners Gather, Remember Bishop O’Neill
Seven families of Catholic school students in the Rockford Diocese gathered at the Diocesan Administration Center with their school principals on Dec. 13 to receive $600 tuition awards from the Bishop O’Neill Scholarship Fund. Bishop Arthur J. O’Neill began the fund in 1994 upon his retirement and earnings are distributed most years. Students who received awards were selected from one Catholic elementary school in each deanery. Michael Kagan, diocesan superintendent of schools, presented the awards at the morning event that included a tableful of treats for everyone.
